As of January 1, 2007 only electrical contractors licenced by the Electrical Contractor Registration Agency of the Electrical Safety Authority are permitted to do electrical work anywhere in Ontario. It is illegal for electrical contractors (including electricians) to operate a business without a licence.
Wiring is complicated and mistakes can be serious. A Licenced Electrical Contractor can get the job done right. Licenced Electrical Contractors are qualified, competent, and insured in accordance with the law, and understand the safety requirements associated with electrical installations.
To confirm that the electrical contractor you are planning to hire has a license, ask for their licence number.
