A few weeks ago, one of our Service Trucks was clipped by a transport truck that wandered into our driver’s lane.
Our driver was in his truck in the right lane, behind a slow moving cement truck and a number of other vehicles. The Cement Truck had just pulled onto the westbound 401 atBrock StreetinWhitby. Our Driver and others in front of him were slowed to about 60 km/hr.
A transport truck that was travelling at least 40 km/hr faster passed by on the left, and ripped (exploded) the entire driver’s side mirror off of our truck, scratching paint and damaging the door as well. The 2 right rear wheels of the transport’s trailer were fully in the right lane where our driver was. So our advice to all – beware of wandering Tractor Trailers. This could happen to you.
Here is what we know:
- Transport Trucks are the largest vehicles on the road.
- They wander into other lanes more often than you might realize.
- We should all keep our distance from them, and be aware that this type of accident happens more often than you might think.
